Chief cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq emphasized the importance of responsible behavior in media and social media during a Friday congregation in Srinagar. He highlighted the need for individuals, society, and the media to uphold moral accountability and restraint in their actions. Referring to a saying of the Prophet, he stressed that everyone will be answerable for their responsibilities.

Mirwaiz pointed out that the media, including social media, plays a crucial role in shaping public opinion. He cautioned against using these platforms solely for gaining followers or viewership without considering the impact. Expressing concern over a viral video involving a minor child, he questioned the appropriateness of exposing children to social media without understanding the consequences.

The religious leader emphasized that children are the future and should not be treated as tools for entertainment or social media engagement. He called for sensitivity and accountability from media professionals and social media users, highlighting the responsibility they carry before society and Allah. Mirwaiz urged for careful and responsible sharing of content to shape a mature and respectful public discourse.
