Mitchell Starc faced his most expensive first over in T20 cricket during the IPL 2026 match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala. Despite his usual strong start with the new ball, Starc struggled as Punjab Kings’ openers aggressively took on his bowling. The over ended with 22 runs, marking Starc’s most expensive first over in a T20 match.

Before this game, Starc’s highest runs conceded in the first over of a T20 match was 15, playing for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2024. Punjab Kings’ opening pair, Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh, known for their aggressive batting, continued their attacking form, putting Starc under pressure.

Starc, a key bowler for Delhi Capitals, has had a mixed season, taking three wickets in his initial matches. However, his costly over in Dharamsala added to the team’s challenges as they strive to secure a spot in the playoffs.
