BJP candidates, such as Soma Thakur and Roopa Ganguly, urged voters to participate in the elections. Complaints about the voting process, including delayed EVM sounds, were voiced by candidates like Debnath. Saikat Sarkar, a BJP candidate, reported an incident of violence involving a party member allegedly attacked by a goon. Swapan Dasgupta, another BJP candidate, expressed hope for peaceful and successful polls in West Bengal.
Polling for 142 constituencies across six districts, including Kolkata, began at 7 a.m. in the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections.
