Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty recently stated that West Bengal has witnessed a significant change, suggesting the end of Mamata Banerjee’s 15-year rule following the recent assembly elections. Speaking at an event for the film ‘Aakhri Sawal’, Chakraborty highlighted the emergence of a new era in the state with the BJP’s government formation.
Chakraborty emphasized the newfound freedom in Bengal, encouraging open dialogue and questioning. He expressed his disapproval of critics targeting films like ‘Aakhri Sawal’ and ‘The Bengal Files’, stressing that not all content should revolve around communal divides.
The actor-turned-politician criticized the politicization of films, citing the controversy surrounding ‘Aakhri Sawal’ in West Bengal. He questioned the tendency to focus on Hindu-Muslim narratives rather than truth, urging for a balanced portrayal of historical events.
‘Aakhri Sawal’ has garnered positive feedback within BJP circles, with Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta praising the film’s depiction of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s century-long journey. The movie, featuring Sanjay Dutt, received acclaim during a special premiere in Delhi, attended by Gupta and the film’s cast and crew.
