Mizoram Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd.) highlighted Mizoram’s long-standing tradition of peace, harmony, and mutual respect between civilians and the armed forces. Attending a State-level ex-servicemen rally at Lammual Ground, the Governor praised Mizoram’s ex-servicemen for their distinguished appearance and conduct, setting a high standard for others in the country. He commended the rally as a symbol of mutual respect, trust, and cooperation between the public and the armed forces.
The Governor lauded ex-servicemen for their selfless service and sacrifices, acknowledging their dedication to safeguarding the nation even in challenging and remote areas. General Singh (Retd.) praised the courage, discipline, and devotion displayed by ex-servicemen, considering them as role models for others to follow. He appreciated the arrangements made for the ex-servicemen, including a medical camp and Grievance Redressal Cell, and announced plans for more extensive medical camps in the future.
Expressing the Mizoram government’s unwavering commitment to ex-servicemen’s welfare, the Governor stressed the importance of treating veterans with dignity and care, in line with the Mizo value of selfless service and concern for others. Home Minister K. Sapdanga also paid tribute to ex-servicemen, acknowledging their sacrifices and urging them to continue inspiring the youth to become responsible citizens contributing to society.
Following the official program, the Governor interacted with ex-servicemen at the rally venue and honored nine ex-servicemen, one gallantry award recipient’s family, and five Veer Naris.
