MJ Daffue secured his second title in two months by delivering a flawless final round at the DP World PGTI Open. Starting with a four-stroke lead, the South African golfer finished at 21 under par 267, edging out Jhared Hack and Saptak Talwar by one shot. This victory propels Daffue to the top of the season-long Road to Mallorca Rankings.
Expressing his satisfaction, Daffue stated, “The first win relieved some pressure, but this time, I had the belief.” He attributed his success to patience, determination, and working with a sports psychologist. Daffue’s final round included a slow start but picked up with a crucial eagle on the fourteenth hole.
Saptak Talwar, who finished third, made a strong comeback in the final round with a series of birdies, securing a significant 10 feet conversion on the 13th hole. Talwar’s performance earned him US$27,000 and maintained his lead in the DP World PGTI Order of Merit. He emphasized the importance of managing expectations after a previous win and highlighted his improved iron game and putting skills.
Jhared Hack, the season-opener winner, closed the tournament with a bogey-free 65 to tie as the runner-up with Saptak at 20-under 268. Notable Indian performers included Yuvraj Sandhu and Ravi Kumar, finishing in the top-10 positions. Talwar and Hack lead the season’s earnings, showcasing a competitive field in the DP World PGTI circuit.
