Panic briefly gripped Patna as reports emerged that armed terrorists had entered the Taj City Centre, detonated explosions, and taken hostages. However, it was clarified that this was a mock drill by security agencies to test emergency preparedness. The scenario included simulated blasts at the hotel’s entrance, followed by a response from the police and Anti-Terrorism Squad.
The hotel complex was cordoned off, and a strategic operation was initiated to neutralize the mock terrorists and evacuate the hostages. Security measures were heightened around the hotel during the exercise. Traffic restrictions were briefly imposed, but normalcy returned after the drill concluded.
Krishna Murari Prasad, ASP (Law and Order-1), Patna, emphasized that such drills are essential to assess response capabilities and ensure public safety. These exercises are conducted periodically to evaluate readiness for real emergencies, sending a message of preparedness from security agencies in Patna.
