Thirteen days after the tragic death of model-turned-actor Twisha Sharma in Bhopal, her final rites are set to take place at Bhadbhada Vishram Ghat at 5 p.m. on Sunday. This follows the decision to conduct a second post-mortem examination by a team of senior doctors from AIIMS-Delhi at AIIMS-Bhopal due to objections raised by Twisha’s family regarding the initial report.
A four-member medical board from AIIMS Delhi, led by Dr. Sudhir Gupta, arrived in Bhopal to conduct the second examination and address the family’s concerns.
Twisha’s father, Navnidhi Sharma, expressed deep sorrow and grief in a statement before the cremation, highlighting the family’s emotional turmoil over the past 13 days.
The delay in the cremation process has added to the family’s distress, as certain Hindu post-death rituals are traditionally completed within the 13-day mourning period. The family, finally able to proceed with the cremation, is devastated by this painful reality.
Twisha Sharma’s death on May 12 raised public outcry and calls for a fair investigation into the circumstances.
The Sharma family emphasized their full cooperation with the investigation and their trust in the legal system to ensure a transparent and impartial process.
Twisha’s husband, Samarth Singh, arrested on Friday in Jabalpur, was remanded to seven days’ police custody by a Bhopal district court on Saturday.
