Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico honored fallen heroes by laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Bratislava. The leaders also engaged in discussions during their visit to the monument, reflecting on the courage and sacrifice of those who fought for Slovakia’s liberation.
In a meeting held earlier in Bratislava, PM Modi and PM Fico explored various areas of cooperation, including trade, investment, defense, technology, innovation, space, nuclear energy, education, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. They also delved into regional and global issues, touching on topics such as the reform of the United Nations.
The leaders emphasized the potential benefits of implementing the India-EU Free Trade Agreement, which could create opportunities in trade, manufacturing, investment, and employment, especially for the youth. Both Prime Ministers agreed to elevate the relationship between India and Slovakia to a Comprehensive Partnership, resulting in agreements across multiple sectors such as digital technology, defense, cybersecurity, and scientific cooperation.
During his two-day State Visit to Slovakia, PM Modi received a warm ceremonial welcome and expressed his commitment to strengthening ties between the two nations. This visit marks the first-ever by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since its independence in 1993. PM Modi’s visit follows recent high-level exchanges between India and Slovakia, including President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to Slovakia and Slovak President Peter Pellegrini’s trip to India.
