Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are set to visit Yad Vashem together before their bilateral meeting at the King David Hotel. The discussions will cover various aspects of the India-Israel Strategic Partnership, focusing on defense, science, technology, trade, and people-to-people exchanges. Both leaders will also address regional and global developments during their talks.
Several MoUs across economic, security, and diplomatic sectors will be signed during the visit to enhance cooperation between India and Israel. The leaders will share the outcomes of their discussions with the media after the signing ceremony. India is working on a significant strategic partnership with Israel to acquire Iron Dome technology, a crucial part of India’s “Mission Sudarshan Chakra” or Project Kusha.
Israel has offered to transfer Iron Dome technology to India under the “Make in India” initiative for local production. This technology is aimed at countering short-range rockets, mortars, and drone swarms within India’s air defense system. India is also interested in Israel’s Iron Beam laser-based system as a cost-effective defense against aerial threats, with plans to bolster national security by 2030.
During the visit, PM Modi will also meet Israeli President Isaac Herzog. Previously, Modi received a standing ovation at the Knesset, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to address the Israeli Parliament. He was honored with the Medal of the Knesset, emphasizing the enduring friendship and shared values between India and Israel.
