Former Indian cricket captain Mohammed Azharuddin has appealed for dignified treatment of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan. Azharuddin, currently serving as a minister for minorities welfare in the Telangana government, expressed solidarity with Imran Khan, who led Pakistan to victory in the 1992 World Cup and is presently incarcerated.
Azharuddin emphasized the importance of treating Imran Khan with respect, citing their shared experiences in cricket and the lessons learned from each other. He extended his prayers for Imran Khan’s well-being and strength for his family during this challenging time.
Azharuddin’s plea for dignified treatment of Imran Khan followed a joint petition signed by 14 former international cricket captains. The petition urged the Pakistan government and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to ensure appropriate medical care for Imran Khan, who is reportedly facing health issues in prison.
The former captains also called on the Government of Pakistan to provide Imran Khan with necessary legal assistance. The deteriorating health condition of the 73-year-old former Prime Minister has raised concerns, with reports indicating a significant loss of vision in his right eye.
