A significant event occurred in Bidhannagar, Kolkata, as numerous Aadhaar cards were discovered in a local Trinamool Congress office. Tension arose in Ward No. 36 of the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation area following the incident. Upon receiving the information, a substantial police presence rushed to the location for investigation into the recovery.
Locals raised concerns that documents of many individuals were gathered under false pretenses to prevent them from voting. The discovery, which involved around 60 to 70 Aadhaar cards neatly arranged in the Trinamool Congress office in Basanti Devi Colony, led to unrest in the community. Allegations suggest that the cards were collected for government schemes but not returned as promised.
The incident has sparked allegations of local Trinamool leadership involvement to influence voting during recent elections. Similar incidents were also reported in Nanoor, Birbhum district, where a large number of Aadhaar cards were found near a Booth Level Officer’s residence. The officer has been arrested, and investigations are ongoing to determine the origins of the cards and why they were not returned to the rightful owners.
