The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) revealed a special Honours Board dedicated to the city’s sports journalists at the Balasaheb Thackeray Press Box in Wankhede Stadium. This initiative aims to recognize the vital role played by these journalists in documenting and promoting Mumbai’s cricketing heritage over the years. The Honours Board serves as a tribute to media professionals who have consistently covered the game and influenced its narrative.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of members from the cricketing and media communities. MCA President Ajinkya Naik, Secretary Prof. Dr. Unmesh Khanvilkar, Joint Secretary Nilesh Bhosle, and other Apex Council members attended the unveiling. Naik highlighted the journalists’ contribution to strengthening the bond between Mumbai cricket and its fans.
Expressing his views, Naik emphasized that Mumbai’s cricket legacy owes much to the journalists who have passionately chronicled its journey. He stated that the Honours Board is a token of appreciation for the dedication and impact of the city’s sports journalists on the game. Khanvilkar also acknowledged the media’s significant role in preserving Mumbai’s cricketing history.
The Honours Board for sports journalists will be permanently on display at the Balasaheb Thackeray Press Box as a mark of respect for their pivotal role in documenting Mumbai’s cricketing evolution.
