The Mumbai Crime Branch has identified the sender of a threatening WhatsApp voice note demanding Rs 1 crore from Bollywood star Ranveer Singh as Harry Boxer, a close associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Harry Boxer, linked to the gang, sent the voice note demanding the sum to the actor. The preliminary investigation by the Mumbai Crime Branch confirmed that the voice note carried Harry Boxer’s voice, with further evidence being gathered.
The threatening voice note was directed to Ranveer’s manager’s mobile number following an incident outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence. The message demanded money along with threats, prompting heightened security for Ranveer. The Crime Branch recorded Ranveer’s manager’s statement three days ago, with the investigation ongoing.
Authorities discovered that a VPN network was used to send the threat, with the location pointing to a foreign country. Interpol’s help is being sought to trace the source through the VPN network active during the threat transmission. Additionally, the Crime Branch recorded statements from Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s brother-in-law and actor Aayush Sharma’s manager, with investigations ongoing and an expected formal FIR filing soon.
Ranveer is set to star in the upcoming sequel to the blockbuster Dhurandhar, titled ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge,’ scheduled for release on March 19. The film features R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal, focusing on a high-stakes covert counter-terrorism operation. The storyline draws inspiration from real-life events and conflicts in South Asia, including the IC-814 hijacking and the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
