The Mumbai Crime Branch is gearing up to acquire custody of Salim Dola, an alleged drug mafia operative, in connection with the Mysuru drug factory case. Officials from the Crime Branch Unit 2 are set to request his custody from Arthur Road Jail for further investigation. The case involves major narcotics syndicates establishing clandestine synthetic drug laboratories in and around Mysuru, Karnataka.
Dola, suspected to be associated with underworld figure Dawood Ibrahim, has been under scrutiny by the Mumbai Crime Branch in the Sangli drugs case. Now, investigators are focusing on exploring his alleged connections and role in the Mysuru drug manufacturing network. Recently, Dola was presented in court by Mumbai Crime Branch Unit 7 regarding the same case and was subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
The Crime Branch officials anticipate uncovering several interstate links related to the narcotics network during the upcoming interrogations. Additionally, the agency is delving into the financial aspects, suppliers, and potential handlers associated with the operation. Notably, in late January 2026, the Narcotics Control Bureau dismantled a significant interstate drug trafficking laboratory in the Hebbal Industrial Area, seizing a substantial amount of street drugs and chemical precursors.
