The Mumbai Indians, without skipper Hardik Pandya due to a back spasm, chose to field first against the Lucknow Super Giants in Match 47 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at Wankhede Stadium. Suryakumar Yadav, leading in Pandya’s absence, mentioned a few changes in their playing XI from the previous match.

In place of Pandya, Corbin Bosch replaced Trent Boult for Mumbai Indians, while Rohit Sharma returned after an injury break. Lucknow Super Giants also made alterations in their lineup, with Josh Inglis making his debut and Akshat Raghuwanshi coming in for Mukul Choudhary.

Suryakumar Yadav remarked that the pitch seemed favorable for bowling first. He also emphasized the importance of showing character and enjoying the game despite the team’s recent challenges. Both Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants have been struggling with form, facing defeats in their recent matches.

LSG captain Rishabh Pant expressed their intent to capitalize on the break to rejuvenate the team’s spirits. Pant highlighted the significance of clearing the mindset during the break and mentioned the changes in their squad for the match against Mumbai Indians.
