A distressing murder-suicide incident was revealed in the ‘Badhaiya’ area under the Kolgawan police station in Satna district, Madhya Pradesh. The bodies of Ambikesh Gautam, aged thirty, and Poonam Ahirwar, aged twenty-nine, were found in a locked room late Friday night, prompting a thorough investigation by local authorities and forensic teams. The discovery occurred when Ankitesh Gautam, Ambikesh’s younger brother and a B.Tech student sharing the rented room, returned home and noticed his brother hanging from the ceiling after finding the door locked but the window open.
Kolgawan Police and a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team swiftly responded to the scene upon notification. Initial examinations revealed severe head injuries on Poonam, suggesting she was fatally assaulted with a heavy object. City Superintendent of Police Devendra Pratap Singh Chauhan stated that the evidence points towards Ambikesh committing suicide by hanging following the murder. Ambikesh, an electrician at a local CNG plant, and Poonam Ahirwar, a government school teacher from Kotma, were the deceased individuals involved in the tragic incident.
Neighbors reported seeing Ambikesh bringing Poonam to the room on Thursday night, after which they did not emerge. Authorities have filed a case of unnatural death and sent both bodies for post-mortem examinations at the district hospital. Investigators discovered a train ticket on Poonam, indicating her intended journey from Anuppur to Indore, raising questions about her unexpected presence in Satna.
