Mysore Warriors secured a nail-biting win against Coastal Kings Mangaluru by two wickets on the final ball in the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 tournament in Hubballi. Requiring seven runs from the last over, Yuvraj Arora’s unbeaten 19 off nine deliveries, featuring two sixes and a four, led the Warriors to their second win in seven matches, placing them at the bottom of the table with four points.
On the other hand, Coastal Kings are positioned second in the standings with seven points, trailing leaders Kalyani Bengaluru Blasters by three points. The Warriors, chasing a revised target of 162 in a rain-shortened 19-over game, were cruising at 111 for three, supported by a rapid 78-run partnership between L R Chethan and Ritesh Bhatkal.
Chethan’s quick 37 off 20 balls, complemented by Bhatkal’s impressive 66 off 39 deliveries, kept the Warriors on track until a sudden collapse saw them lose three wickets in five balls. Despite veteran leg-spinner Shreyas Gopal’s remarkable 4 for 37 spell, Arora’s calm approach sealed the memorable chase for the Warriors.
Coastal Kings, led by captain Karun Nair’s fluent 48 off 27 balls, set a competitive total. Nair’s innings, supported by Nikin Jose’s 47-run partnership, seemed promising until Lavish Kaushal’s crucial spell turned the tide. Kaushal’s 3 for 32 figures, including key dismissals, restricted Coastal Kings to a total just shy of victory.
