Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio highlighted that Nagaland has maintained a peaceful environment over the years, with stable law and order and minimal security issues. The latest Crime in India 2023 report by the National Crime Records Bureau ranks Nagaland among the safest states in India, with a low crime rate of 84.9 per lakh population. The state police have been actively working to sustain peace and enhance law enforcement capabilities.
To combat modern crimes, Nagaland Police has bolstered its cybercrime infrastructure, utilized national cyber platforms, and intensified actions against financial and online offenses. Additionally, a strong campaign against narcotics has been ongoing, targeting drug trafficking networks within the state. In the past year, Nagaland Police seized 230 kg of various drugs and around one lakh units of synthetic drugs, leading to 135 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Chief Minister Rio affirmed the government’s commitment to achieving the Viksit Bharat @ 2047 goal across all sectors. Notably, the state’s focus on agriculture and allied sectors has seen the engagement of AG Horizon Pvt. Ltd. for effective program management and consultancy under the Agriculture Department. Through initiatives like the PM-KISAN scheme, over 2.38 lakh farmers have benefited, receiving direct bank credits totaling over Rs 763 crore.
In the healthcare sector, access has been expanded through the implementation of Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY and the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS). With over 5.78 lakh PM-JAY and CMHIS (General) cards issued, along with 1.92 lakh CMHIS (EP) cards, more than one lakh individuals have benefited, with claim payouts exceeding Rs 450 crore since inception. Chief Minister Rio also inaugurated Nagaland’s first Drone School and Drone Centre of Excellence, aiming to equip youth with drone technology skills and promote innovation-driven employment.
Describing the drone initiative as a significant step towards utilizing modern technology for governance and development, Chief Minister Rio emphasized the shift in drones’ usage from military to civilian purposes. The Drone School will act as a center for innovation and capacity building, facilitating the transfer of technology to remote areas for enhanced service delivery. This initiative is expected to enhance Nagaland’s readiness for future challenges and establish the state as a leader in drone technology utilization.
