The Nagaland government initiated the District School and System Leaders Professional Learning Community (DSSL PLC) to enhance the state’s education system through collaborative leadership. Emphasizing the significance of school leadership, curriculum, and administration, Advisor Kekhrielhoulie Yhome highlighted the need to address challenges like infrastructure gaps and human resource shortages. Efforts are underway to rebuild public trust in government schools, with a focus on aligning reforms with the National Education Policy.
Deputy Director Benjung Yaden discussed the progress of the School Leadership Development Programme (SLDP), aimed at improving learning outcomes by enhancing leadership in schools. Training initiatives include certificate courses and programs for educators, focusing on continuous professional development and leadership skills. The programme, aligned with NEP-2020, aims to institutionalize professional advancement for educators in Nagaland.
Secretary of School Education Mhathung Tungoe stressed the importance of innovative approaches in the evolving educational landscape. He highlighted the role of professional learning communities in promoting continuous improvement and shared expertise among educators. The launch of DSSL PLC in collaboration with various educational bodies aims to create a network of educational leaders to drive systemic change and enhance the quality of education in Nagaland.
Principal Director Shashank Pratap Singh mentioned that nearly 385 leaders have undergone training through the one-month leadership programme. He emphasized the need for practical training implementation and accountability in schools, with a focus on professional growth. Singh also mentioned the ULLAS scheme for adult literacy and the importance of structured engagement with education officers for effective training support.
