Veteran politician Nand Kishore Yadav became the 23rd Governor of Nagaland after taking the oath on Friday. The ceremony, held at Lok Bhavan in Kohima, saw Gauhati High Court Chief Justice Ashutosh Kumar administering the oath. Notable attendees included Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and other state officials.
Yadav’s appointment follows President Droupadi Murmu’s announcement of Governors and Lieutenant Governors’ appointments and transfers in several states and union territories. He succeeds Ajay Kumar Bhalla, who held the additional charge of Nagaland since August 25 last year.
Nand Kishore Yadav, a former Bihar Minister and Assembly Speaker, is a senior BJP leader known for his extensive political career. He has served in various capacities within the party and government, including as the president of the BJP’s Bihar unit.
In recognition of his contributions to public life and long-standing political career, Yadav’s appointment as the Governor of Nagaland is significant. His experience as a seven-time MLA from the Patna Sahib constituency adds to his political credentials.
