Naseeruddin Shah, a renowned actor, discovered his passion for acting in the 9th standard while performing “The Merchant of Venice.” During a conversation with Anupam Kher on “The Anupam Kher Show – Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai,” Shah expressed his conviction towards acting, stating that he belonged in that space. Despite his father’s expectations for him to pursue other professions like medicine, engineering, or the army, Shah realized his calling in acting.
Reflecting on his academic struggles, Shah admitted to being a poor student in subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Trigonometry, excelling only in literature. His journey led him to graduate from Aligarh Muslim University in 1971 and later attend the National School of Drama in Delhi. Transitioning from parallel cinema to mainstream films, Shah made his mark in the industry with movies like “Hum Paanch” in 1980.
Known for his exceptional performances in films like “Masoom,” “Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron,” “Karma,” “Tridev,” “Vishwatma,” and “Mohra,” Naseeruddin Shah’s filmography boasts numerous cinematic masterpieces. His significant contributions to Indian cinema were recognized with prestigious honors like the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan.
