National Commission for Women Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar visited the Sakhi One Stop Centre in Kannauj district, Uttar Pradesh, to lead a Prevention of Sexual Harassment training program. Rahatkar stressed the importance of safe and respectful workplaces for women’s empowerment and equal opportunities.
She highlighted the need for competent Internal Committees to enforce the POSH Act effectively. Rahatkar emphasized the significance of resolving complaints transparently, monitoring compliance, and raising awareness about Local Committees for women in the unorganized sector. She stated that a secure workplace is crucial for women’s economic empowerment and nation-building.
During her visit, Rahatkar distributed benefits to beneficiaries under public welfare schemes, participated in ceremonies for newborn infants, and provided assistance to various institutions. The National Commission for Women also mentioned Rahatkar’s engagements in Kanpur on gender-sensitive policing, workplace safety, and women’s empowerment.
