As the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections near their final phase, national leaders’ visits have heightened the political competition in the state. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal are actively involved, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi also engaging in campaigning in the southern districts.
Rekha Gupta is set to campaign in Coimbatore North to support BJP candidate Vanathi Srinivasan. Her visit is anticipated to bolster the BJP’s chances in the constituency, which is witnessing a closely contested election. The campaign is scheduled to commence at 4:30 p.m., with roadshows and direct voter interactions planned in key areas like Venkittapuram, Chinnammal Nagar, and SBI Road.
Party leaders are optimistic that Gupta’s presence will motivate grassroots workers and help solidify support among urban and middle-class voters. Vanathi Srinivasan, the BJP’s Mahila Morcha national president and sitting MLA from Coimbatore South, has been actively addressing local development issues during her campaign.
In another development, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal is slated to visit Chennai on April 20 and 21 to campaign for candidates aligned with the DMK-led alliance. Kejriwal’s visit is strategically aimed at strengthening opposition unity and expanding AAP’s political footprint in the state. Simultaneously, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is conducting a significant roadshow in Nagercoil to garner support for BJP and alliance candidates in various districts.
With leaders from different parties actively campaigning across Tamil Nadu, the state is witnessing a fiercely contested electoral battle as parties make their final efforts to sway voters before polling day.
