National level shooter, Damayanti Sen, who had been missing since Thursday afternoon, was found and brought back home on Saturday morning, bringing relief to her family, friends, and the shooting sports community. She was discovered wandering near Ramkrishnapur Ferry Jetty in Kolkata-adjacent Howrah district by morning-walkers who recognized her and contacted her family. Her father promptly arrived at the location and escorted her home.

The mystery surrounding her disappearance for the past two days continues, with no information shared by her family members since her return. A Special Investigating Team formed to locate Sen and uncover the circumstances behind her vanishing has not made any public statements yet. Sen, a 15-year-old shooter recently chosen for national team trials, had left home on Thursday afternoon to buy household items and did not return.

Despite being sighted twice during her absence, once at Howrah Station and later at the Mahesh Rath Yatra in Serampore, the details of her whereabouts remain unclear. Social media reports led to a police search operation involving four teams to locate the missing shooter from Central Howrah. Her safe return has brought relief to her neighbors and shooting peers, although questions persist about the events of the past two days.

The shooting community in West Bengal has previously faced controversies, such as the suspension of Olympian and former Indian rifle coach Joydeep Karmakar by the West Bengal Rifle Association due to allegations of corruption made on social media in January last year.
