The National People’s Party (NPP) has approved resolutions focusing on enhancing democratic participation, safeguarding indigenous rights, and expanding its presence across India. Led by NPP President Conrad K. Sangma, the party’s National Committee Meeting and Annual General Meeting in Shillong saw the adoption of these resolutions. The discussions included plans for organizational growth, political strategies, and a call for a transparent framework for the implementation of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act.
Chief Minister Sangma emphasized the party’s dedication to people-centric governance, stating that decisions should prioritize serving the people. He also highlighted the strategic significance of the Northeast region, envisioning it as a gateway for national prosperity through inclusive development. The NPP reiterated its focus on empowering youth and women leaders, sustainable development, inter-state collaboration, and ensuring ethical governance. Additionally, the party aims to strengthen its presence in Manipur and other states, focusing on grassroots engagement for stability and progress.
The meeting also discussed preparations for upcoming elections, including the Lok Sabha by-election in Meghalaya, the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council elections, and the Manipur Assembly polls. With leaders from over 14 states in attendance, the NPP showcased its expanding national influence. The gathering concluded with a reiteration of the party’s motto, “One Voice, One Northeast,” underscoring its commitment to unity and continued organizational growth.
