Maharashtra’s Sakshi Sunil Padekar and Railways’ Shahu Tushar Mane set new national record scores in the 10m Air Rifle women and men events during the National Selection Trials 1&2 at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting ranges in the National Capital Region. Sakshi achieved a score of 254.3 in the T2 final, while Shahu Tushar Mane scored 637.1 in the men’s T2 qualification, surpassing the national records.
In the men’s T2 final, Olympian Arjun Babuta emerged victorious, and Sakshi claimed the women’s title. Additionally, Olympian Rahi Sarnobat secured the T2 final in the women’s 25m Pistol event.
Maharashtra’s Sakshi Sunil Padekar displayed a dominant performance in the 10m Air Rifle Women Trial 2, leading from qualification to the final. She topped the qualification round with 634.4 points and continued her excellence in the final with a score of 254.3, surpassing the existing national record set by Elavenil Valarivan.
In the 10m Air Rifle Men Trial 2 final, Olympian Arjun Babuta clinched the top spot with a score of 253.4, closely followed by Maharashtra’s Parth Rakesh Mane. The competition was intense, with both athletes delivering exceptional performances in a tight contest.
Former Asian Games and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Rahi Sarnobat claimed the gold in the 25m Pistol Women Trial 2 final with a commanding display, securing 43 hits. The event also saw impressive performances from other participants, including Haryana’s Vibhuti Bhatia and double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker.
The upcoming events include the 10m Air Pistol Trial 1 for both men’s and women’s categories on Saturday.
