It was a successful day for the National Testing Agency as the NEET (UG) 2026 retest was carried out smoothly, involving 7 lakh officials to ensure an error-free exam for 20 lakh aspirants. The NTA credited the whole-of-government effort for this achievement, emphasizing the commitment to maintaining the integrity of the medical admission test.
The NTA highlighted the extensive effort put into the retest, showcasing the collaboration of various government entities and the special care taken for 10,000 disabled candidates during the exam. Around 7 lakh officials, including police teams, observers, and examination staff, were mobilized across India to conduct the examination within a record 37 days.
More than 20 lakh candidates participated in the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination held at 5,440 centers in India and 14 centers abroad. The paper was administered in 13 languages, with the NTA expressing gratitude to experts from academic institutions for their contributions in preparing multiple sets of question papers.
The NTA acknowledged the collective effort of Team Bharat, which involved various administrative bodies aligning to ensure a smooth exam day for each candidate. Special arrangements were made for candidates with disabilities, including those with medical conditions, to facilitate their participation in the exam.
Security measures for a fair and transparent test included Aadhaar-based biometric and face authentication, CCTV monitoring, jammers, and two-layer frisking with the support of State Police across centers. The NTA also recognized the support received from various government bodies, institutions, and stakeholders in conducting the examination successfully.
