The National Testing Agency has dismissed 47 officials as part of a comprehensive revamp of its examination system, according to sources from the Union Education Ministry. Legal actions may be taken against some officials amidst student protests led by the Cockroach Janta Party over issues like the NEET paper leak. This move follows the approval of a Bill by the Centre to address exam malpractices.

The restructuring aims to prevent paper leaks and enhance the NTA’s operations. Changes are anticipated in the agency’s outsourcing methods to establish a foolproof system. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent announcements, including the introduction of fast-track courts for prompt justice in paper leak cases, have set the stage for these reforms.

Experts will propose changes to streamline the NTA’s functioning and efficiency. The NTA, responsible for conducting various national-level exams like JEE, NEET, and CUET, is undergoing intense scrutiny due to recent controversies. The restructuring process is slated for completion within the next month to address demands for examination reforms.

The Union Cabinet’s approval of a Bill to establish fast-track courts and impose stricter penalties in paper leak cases signals a significant step towards ensuring exam integrity. The proposed legislation, set to be presented in Parliament soon, aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s commitment to combat paper leaks effectively. Fast-track courts are envisioned to expedite trials and deliver verdicts within three months, as outlined in the upcoming Bill.
