The National Testing Agency (NTA) has commenced a significant institutional rebuilding process by announcing senior professional roles and engaging young talent via its Pratibha Setu portal. This move is in line with the recommendations of the High-Level Committee led by Professor K. Radhakrishnan. NTA, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education, has advertised four general manager positions on a contract basis, each with an initial term of three years.

These managerial roles aim to enhance various crucial areas within the agency, including academic assessment, operations, cyber-security, and vigilance. The general manager for assessment research and development and psychometrics will be responsible for overseeing NTA’s academic and measurement science functions. This role involves managing item banks, equating procedures, and implementing innovative testing methods like computer-adaptive testing and AI-assisted assessment.

Another key appointment is the general manager for test centre network and operations, who will oversee NTA’s extensive test centre network spanning over five hundred cities and international locations. Responsibilities include maintaining high standards for test centre empanelment, capacity planning, ensuring accessibility for candidates with disabilities, and coordinating examination-day logistics with state and district authorities.

Additionally, the general manager for Information Security, who will also serve as the Chief Information Security Officer, will be tasked with safeguarding all NTA systems, networks, and data. This role involves ensuring compliance with relevant data protection laws and guidelines while operating a 24/7 security operations centre. Moreover, the general manager for vigilance, investigation, and forensics will lead internal inquiries, develop digital forensics capabilities, and collaborate with central agencies to prevent unfair means during examinations.

In a parallel initiative, NTA has initiated engagement for sixteen young professionals through the Union Public Service Commission’s Pratibha Setu portal. These professionals, selected from Civil Services Examination candidates, will serve in roles dedicated to academic research, legal research, finance, and accounts. These appointments, along with efforts to engage subject matter experts and translators, are part of a systematic approach to enhance NTA’s capabilities across various functional verticals as recommended by the expert committee. Further recruitment activities are anticipated in the near future, reflecting a comprehensive drive to bolster the credibility and efficiency of the National Testing Agency.
