In a bid to quell political rumors, the NCP led by Sunetra Pawar confirmed that Praful Patel and Sunil Tatkare retain their roles as national working president and Maharashtra unit chief, respectively. Recent confusion arose due to a clerical error in a communication to the Election Commission of India, prompting talks of organizational changes. The party assured that a fresh communication will be sent to clarify responsibilities, including those of Patel and Tatkare.
Speculation had surfaced about a potential shift in the party’s leadership structure, fueled by the absence of Patel and Tatkare’s designations in a communication to the Election Commission. Despite being part of the new national working committee, their specific roles were not mentioned, leading to misconceptions. NCP leaders emphasized that there have been no alterations to the top leadership hierarchy, dispelling reports of sidelining the senior leaders.
Umesh Patil clarified that the National President will soon convene a National Convention in Delhi to finalize the selection of top office bearers. Until internal elections are completed, current office bearers will continue as per the existing arrangement. The party plans to issue an updated communication to the ECI to reaffirm the positions of senior leaders and announce additional organizational appointments.
