Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA Sunil Shelke urged for a transparent discussion in the Legislative Assembly regarding the plane crash involving late Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Shelke emphasized the importance of revealing the truth behind the incident and the ongoing probe to the people of Maharashtra. During a discussion on budgetary demands, Shelke raised concerns about the tragic accident, questioning the sudden pilot changes, rescheduled take-off time, and the reasons for attempting a landing under low visibility conditions.
Shelke stressed the need for an impartial investigation without external pressure while various agencies look into the matter. He expressed hope that the investigation would uncover the absolute truth for the public. Shelke also criticized attempts to give the incident a “communal colour” and reaffirmed the loyalty of party workers and leaders to the Pawar family. He called for a detailed discussion in the House to determine whether the incident was an accident or an act of sabotage.
Shelke specifically requested Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to present the investigation findings to the public before the current session concludes. He concluded by urging the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) to rename the International Cricket Stadium at Gahunje, Pune, in honor of Ajit Pawar to recognize his contributions.
