The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders have expressed approval for the Central government’s move to transfer the CBSE Chairman and Secretary following the On-Screen marking controversy. However, Shiv Sena-UBT suggested that the CBSE officials should have faced suspension instead. The BJP-led Centre has established an inquiry committee to thoroughly investigate the On-Screen marking issue.
The One-Member Committee, led by S. Radha Chauhan, Chairperson of the Capacity Building Commission, will present its findings to the Department of Personnel and Training within a month. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju emphasized the importance of public trust in investigations conducted at the Prime Minister’s level. Uttar Pradesh Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision as a positive step.
Om Prakash Rajbhar stated that those involved in misconduct towards students should be held accountable and students must receive justice. He commended the Prime Minister’s actions in this matter. In contrast, Shiv Sena-UBT MP Arvind Sawant criticized the decision, advocating for the suspension of the CBSE officials. He stressed the importance of upholding the quality of education in the prestigious institution.
The inquiry panel will delve into the procurement of On-Screen Marking (OSM) services by CBSE, amidst controversies regarding alleged guideline relaxations favoring specific vendors. Rahul Singh currently serves as the CBSE Chairman, while Himanshu Gupta holds the positions of CBSE’s Secretary and Chief Administrative Officer. Both officials have been removed from their roles following the government’s crackdown on suspected malpractices. The controversy surrounding the board’s newly introduced On-screen marking (OSM) system continues to escalate.
