The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) MPs plan to hold a demonstration at Parliament’s Makar Dwar on Thursday in response to the Congress sit-in near Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence on July 21 regarding exam paper leaks. Scheduled for 10:30 a.m., the protest follows the BJP’s accusation that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi was shirking his Opposition duties by inciting disturbances.
A day earlier, the BJP criticized Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of avoiding his responsibilities as the Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP) and causing disruptions instead. Gandhi, accompanied by senior Congress leaders and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, had staged a sit-in near PM Modi’s residence to protest the lathi charge on anti-NEET leak demonstrators, resulting in a brief police detention.
During a press conference, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj highlighted Gandhi’s reluctance to engage in dialogue, despite the government’s willingness to address the issue in Parliament. Swaraj also noted the absence of a formal notice from the Opposition for a discussion on the paper leak in the House, emphasizing the government’s commitment to student welfare and readiness to address concerns.
