The NDA intends to hold nationwide protests following the failure of the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament. Led by the BJP Mahila Morcha, demonstrations are set to take place at district headquarters nationwide. Despite garnering majority support, the bill fell short of the required two-thirds majority for passage, sparking political tensions between the ruling alliance and the Opposition.
Samajwadi Party MP Ram Gopal Yadav criticized the government’s stance, highlighting that a similar bill had been passed in 2023. He questioned the need for reintroducing the legislation, suggesting political motives behind the move. Yadav also accused the government of targeting upcoming state elections through this initiative.
Yadav further criticized the government for introducing the bill without the necessary majority, alleging a lack of genuine intent behind the action. He also took aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of pursuing political gains through the bill. Additionally, Yadav supported the demand for extending reservation benefits to Muslim women, referencing the Sachar Committee report to emphasize the need for equitable treatment.
