The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has introduced a 10% rebate on property tax for the financial year 2026-27 if taxpayers settle their dues by June 30. Property owners are urged to take advantage of this scheme by paying their taxes promptly through the NDMC online portal or other authorized payment methods. To benefit from the rebate, the NDMC advises taxpayers to avoid last-minute payments and settle their dues well before the deadline.
The NDMC has launched project D.R.O.P. (Develop Responsible Outlook for Plastic) in partnership with an automobile manufacturer and the Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA). This initiative aims to enhance plastic waste management, encourage recycling, and increase public involvement in environmental sustainability. As part of the project, D.R.O.P. Community Bins made from recycled plastic waste have been introduced, along with a structured plastic waste collection, segregation, and recycling system in the NDMC area.
NDMC Vice Chairperson Kuljeet Singh Chahal highlighted the successful collaboration with IPCA in solid waste management since 2021. Under this partnership, 115 aerobins have been installed, processing over 62,958 kilograms of wet waste and producing 10,013 kilograms of compost. Building on this progress, Project D.R.O.P. will focus on installing dedicated plastic collection bins across the NDMC area to ensure systematic plastic waste collection, transportation, segregation, and recycling through authorized channels. Chahal emphasized that Project D.R.O.P. aligns with the vision of Swachh Bharat, Mission LiFE, and Viksit Bharat @2047 envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
