NDMC Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal, inspired by PM Modi’s “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, participated in a tree plantation drive in Laxmibai Nagar. The event saw the involvement of local residents, RWA members, and NDMC department representatives who planted trees in honor of their mothers. Chahal emphasized the symbolic significance of the initiative, highlighting the emotional connection and commitment it represents towards mothers and nature.
Special tree plantation programs are being organized regularly under the campaign, encouraging public participation and environmental awareness. Various tree species, such as peepal, champa, neem, and ashoka, were planted during the #EkPedMaaKeNaamOnSunday campaign. The NDMC has extended its efforts globally by planting trees in the embassy premises of over 20 countries, fostering international cooperation for environmental conservation.
The NDMC’s Garden Department has devised an annual action plan for regular tree plantation drives every Sunday as part of their environmental initiatives. Chahal stressed the importance of individual contributions in combating pollution and safeguarding the environment. He also oversaw maintenance activities at the Palika Gram residential complex, ensuring facilities for senior citizens and addressing infrastructure issues.
Chahal highlighted the NDMC’s commitment to green initiatives, underscoring the role of urban greenery in enhancing city cleanliness and livability. Aligned with the vision of ‘Developed India @ 2047,’ the NDMC aims to prioritize environmental protection, pollution control, and the well-being of citizens through sustainable practices.
