NDMC Vice-Chairperson Kuljeet Singh Chahal recently led an early morning inspection of waterlogging-prone spots in the NDMC region. The aim was to evaluate readiness for ensuring continuous civic services and reducing waterlogging risks during the upcoming monsoon season. Chahal, accompanied by senior officers from various departments, visited key areas like Bharti Nagar, Golf Links, Tughlaq Lane, and Pandara Road to assess preparedness and preventive measures.
Chahal emphasized the importance of timely completion of monsoon-related tasks and enhanced coordination among departments to swiftly address challenges during heavy rains. Notably, NDMC has already finished 100% desilting work in the initial phase by March 31, with the second phase scheduled for completion by June 15. The cleaning of bell mouths, gully traps, and manholes under different divisions has significantly improved the drainage system, aiding in preventing waterlogging issues.
In line with NDMC’s commitment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Viksit Bharat” and world-class urban management, Chahal also conducted a midnight inspection of Khan Market. During this inspection, he assessed the night sweeping operations and redevelopment activities, with the presence of officials from various departments and RWA representatives. Chahal highlighted the ongoing development projects in and around Khan Market aimed at enhancing civic amenities for residents, tourists, and shoppers, considering its status as a popular commercial hub in the national capital.
