Rescuers from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in West Bengal’s Nadia district marked World Cycling Day by participating in a 25-km cyclothon. The event, which included 105 participants, aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle and eco-friendly transportation.
NDRF personnel also joined the “Sunday on Cycle” rally at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata to advocate for physical fitness, environmental sustainability, and cycling benefits. The event, attended by around 1,000 cyclists, featured Nisith Pramanik, the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, as the chief guest.
In addition to the cyclothon, the NDRF’s 2nd Battalion engaged in a large-scale plantation drive on World Environment Day, planting over 2,000 saplings of indigenous species. The battalion’s commitment to fitness, environmental conservation, and community engagement was highlighted through these initiatives.
NDRF personnel from Haringhata, known for their role in national and international rescue operations, also provide training to other organizations and state units at their Battalion Headquarters.
