President of Nepal’s ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rabi Lamichhane, has extended invitations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Nabin to visit Nepal. Lamichhane, who leads Nepal’s largest political party, returned to Kathmandu after a five-day trip to India at the BJP President’s invitation. During his visit, he met with Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, and other BJP leaders.
Upon his return to Nepal, Lamichhane expressed optimism about the visits, stating that both Modi and the BJP President are keen on visiting Nepal when the timing is appropriate. He also mentioned that the proposed visit of Nepali Prime Minister Balendra Shah to New Delhi was uncertain, prompting his own visit to India.
Lamichhane’s discussions with Indian leaders focused on enhancing Nepal-India relations and promoting economic prosperity. He highlighted the importance of cooperation in various sectors, including sports and information technology, emphasizing the need for development diplomacy without being hindered by past policy issues.
Nepal’s Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal has also embarked on his first official visit to India for a three-day trip, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties and enhance connectivity between the two countries.
