The Netherlands Cricket Board has revealed a 15-member squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier set in Nepal from January 18 to February 1. Babette de Leede will captain the team in this crucial qualification event. Head coach Neil MacRae expressed confidence in the squad’s blend of experience, citing recent strong performances that bode well for their qualification prospects.
“We have chosen a seasoned squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier in Nepal,” MacRae stated on the Netherlands cricket website. He commended the team’s impressive display at the ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy 2025 in Thailand, where they secured a third-place finish.
The Dutch team’s recent successes have enhanced their standing, with notable achievements late in 2025, including a commendable third-place finish in a competitive tournament in Thailand. They enter the Nepal event as strong contenders for a top-four finish, aiming to secure a spot in the World Cup in England.
The Global Qualifier will see participation from teams like Bangladesh, Ireland, Namibia, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, and others. Divided into two groups, the top three teams from each group will progress to the Super Six round, with the top four ultimately qualifying for the Women’s T20 World Cup.
The 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup is scheduled for England and Wales in June, featuring 12 teams in 33 matches. This marks an expansion from the previous 10-team tournaments in Bangladesh and South Africa. While eight teams have already secured spots, including hosts England and others, the remaining four positions will be determined through the global qualifying tournament.
