The Netherlands Cricket Board has announced a 15-player squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, set to kick off on June 12 in England and Wales. This marks the team’s debut in the tournament, which will feature 12 teams for the first time. Babette de Leede will lead the squad in their first major T20 event, expressing eagerness to display their skills on the global platform and receive support from fans.
“We are thrilled for our inaugural participation in the ICC T20 World Cup. It’s a fantastic chance to compete against top teams worldwide and showcase the talent we possess in the Netherlands on a grand scale,” stated Babette. She also anticipates a significant turnout of Dutch supporters at the England venue, making it a memorable experience for the team, their loved ones, and all supporters of Dutch women’s cricket.
The Netherlands earned their spot in the Women’s T20 World Cup after securing three victories in as many matches during the Super Six stage of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers held in Nepal last year. Placed in a challenging Group A, the Dutch team will face tough competition from Australia, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and South Africa in the group stage as they vie for the top two positions in the points table to advance to the semi-finals.
Their campaign will commence against Bangladesh at Edgbaston on June 14, followed by crucial matches against India at Headingley on June 17 and defending champions Australia at the Utilita Bowl on June 20. Led by Babette de Leede, the team will wrap up their group stage matches at the County Ground in Bristol, taking on South Africa on June 25 and Pakistan on June 27. Prior to the World Cup, the Netherlands will participate in a T20I TriSeries in Scotland alongside Bangladesh and the host nation.
