Netherlands Prime Minister Rob Jetten bid farewell to Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the airport, showing warmth in their relationship as Modi departed for Sweden following his visit to the European nation.
Earlier, both leaders visited the Afsluitdijk Dam, a symbol of Dutch expertise in water management, flood protection, and freshwater storage. Modi praised the Netherlands for its pioneering work in water resources, emphasizing the global community’s potential to learn from them.
During their meeting, the two Prime Ministers discussed enhancing the India-Netherlands relationship and decided to elevate it to a “Strategic Partnership.” They also agreed on a comprehensive Roadmap for Strategic Partnership to deepen cooperation in various sectors such as trade, defense, technology, maritime affairs, renewable energy, and education.
Emphasizing the importance of collaboration in water, agriculture, and health, the leaders pledged to intensify the Strategic Partnership on Water through joint efforts on significant water projects. Additionally, they acknowledged the cultural ties between the nations, with Modi expressing gratitude for the return of historic Chola plates facilitated by the Netherlands government.
