The Dharma Centre of the Vajrayana Drigung Kagyu Samten Ling was officially opened on June 4, 2026, emphasizing the cultural and spiritual bond shared by the two nations. The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Most Venerable Thich Minh Nghiem and His Eminence Khentrul Khunga Konchok Tenzin Rinpoche.
The Indian Embassy in Hanoi highlighted the significance of Buddhism in fostering the enduring friendship between India and Vietnam. The Dharma Centre is envisioned to serve as a hub for spiritual and cultural activities, further solidifying the people-to-people connections between the two countries. Indian Ambassador to Vietnam, Tshering W Sherpa, expressed gratitude to the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha for their continuous support and collaboration during the event.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently announced the elevation of India-Vietnam relations to an Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. During a joint press conference with Vietnamese President To Lam, PM Modi underscored Vietnam’s pivotal role in India’s Act East policy and Vision Mahasagar. The visit of President To Lam to India, starting from Bodh Gaya, symbolizes the shared spiritual heritage of both nations, reflecting the tangible outcomes resulting from their discussions.
