The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has announced the suspension of road-cutting permissions from July 1 to September 30 to ensure smooth traffic flow and prevent public inconvenience during the upcoming monsoon season. Exceptions for urgent public utility services or emergency works will be considered on a case-by-case basis with Chairman Keshav Chandra’s approval. Emphasizing public safety, Chandra highlighted the importance of proactive measures to maintain traffic flow and prevent accidents during heavy rainfall.
To avoid waterlogging, road damage, and traffic disruptions, the NDMC has imposed restrictions on road cutting, aiming to uphold road integrity and ensure safe movement in the NDMC area. All ongoing road-cutting works must be completed and restored before the monsoon onset to prioritize public safety and prevent inconvenience to pedestrians and motorists. Permissions for pending road-cutting works will remain suspended, with fresh execution allowed only in emergent cases with specific approval from the NDMC Chairman.
Instructing all relevant departments and agencies to adhere strictly to these guidelines, the NDMC aims to ensure full compliance in the public interest and minimize civic disruptions during the monsoon months.
