The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Ayush and eight yoga institutions, celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga at nine locations with approximately 6,000 participants. NDMC Chairperson Keshav Chandra led the participants in the common yoga protocol under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”
Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilizers Jagat Prakash Nadda, along with Ministry of Ayush Secretary and Art of Living volunteers, took part in the yoga event at Shanti Path. Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti Raj Bhushan Chaudhary joined the Yoga Protocol program at Lodhi Garden.
Chandra, along with Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga volunteers, NDMC officers, and staff, participated in the Yoga Protocol program at Palika Services Officers’ Institute, Chanakyapuri. Stressing the significance of integrating yoga into daily life, Chandra highlighted that yoga is not just a one-day practice but a lifestyle essential for physical fitness, mental clarity, and inner balance.
Chandra emphasized that starting each day with yoga fosters overall well-being, resilience, and sustained energy in daily activities. He noted that embracing yoga in today’s fast-paced world is crucial for leading healthier, more focused, and productive lives. NDMC organized main events at various locations in New Delhi, promoting holistic well-being, healthy lifestyles, and wellness among employees and citizens.
Besides the prominent locations, Yoga protocol events were also held at NDMC Old Age Home, Working Women Hostel, AYUSH Units, Resident Welfare Associations, and different offices. NDMC partnered with various organizations like Art of Living, Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Gayatri Parivar, and others to ensure the success of the International Day of Yoga 2026 in the New Delhi area.
