New Delhi World Book Fair 2026 to Kick Off with Free Entry for Public

The New Delhi World Book Fair 2026, the world’s largest book fair, will commence on Saturday at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. This literary extravaganza will run until January 18, 2026, offering free entry to the public for the first time in its history, aiming to promote a stronger reading culture nationwide.

Organized by the National Book Trust (NBT), India, under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, the 53rd edition of the fair will witness a diverse global participation, including representatives from over 35 countries, 1,000+ publishers, 3,000+ stalls, 600 literary and cultural events, and over 1,000 speakers, making it a significant global literary congregation.

Union Minister for Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, will inaugurate the fair at Bharat Mandapam. The theme for this year, ‘Indian Military History: Valour & Wisdom @ 75′, will honor India’s armed forces’ courage, strategic brilliance, and sacrifices, showcasing pivotal historical moments that have shaped the nation’s defense legacy.

Qatar will be the Guest of Honour, and Spain will be the Focus Country, adding diverse international perspectives to the event. With a focus on celebrating stories, ideas, knowledge, and cultures from around the world, the fair aims to bring together publishers, authors, and readers on a vibrant platform, fostering literary exchange and joy of reading.

The New Delhi World Book Fair 2026, with its expansive scale, inclusive access, and thematic richness, is poised to be a significant gathering for literary enthusiasts, reinforcing India’s role as a global center for cultural and literary interactions.
