A fresh gunfight has erupted in Singhpora village, Chatroo area, Kishtwar district, marking the second clash within four days at the same location. Security forces are currently engaged in firing exchanges with terrorists hiding in the village. The joint forces have been conducting intense combing operations with the support of drones and sniffer dogs to prevent the terrorists from escaping.
Multiple teams comprising the Army, police, and paramilitary forces have been on high alert in the area for the past four days. The ongoing encounter involves a group of two to three terrorists associated with Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) believed to be trapped in the region. This incident is the fourth confrontation between security forces and terrorists in the Jammu region this year.
In recent weeks, there have been several encounters between security forces and terrorists in different areas of Jammu and Kashmir. Despite heightened anti-terrorist operations, terrorists have managed to evade capture in some instances. The security forces have intensified their operations to ensure the safety of the region, especially with Republic Day approaching, amidst concerns of infiltration by Pakistan-based handlers.
