Chief Minister-designate D.K. Shivakumar met outgoing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at his official residence, Kaveri, to express gratitude before the swearing-in ceremony. Former Home Minister G. Parameshwara, set to become Deputy Chief Minister, also conveyed thanks to Siddaramaiah.
Siddaramaiah congratulated both Shivakumar and Parameshwara, offering best wishes as they gear up for their new roles in the Karnataka government. Senior Congress leader R.V. Deshpande and MLC Yathindra Siddaramaiah, son of the outgoing CM, were present during the meeting to congratulate the newly appointed leaders.
During the interaction, Siddaramaiah warmly embraced Shivakumar and Parameshwara, with the leaders exchanging felicitations and bouquets in anticipation of the oath-taking ceremony. In a related development, Shivakumar invited Dr. Sharanaprakash R. Patil to join the Council of Ministers, with supporters celebrating the news at Patil’s residence.
Sharanaprakash Patil, a former Minister under Siddaramaiah, represents the Sedam Assembly constituency and is known for his strong ties with key political figures in Karnataka. Patil’s rapport with Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar, and the Kharge family has solidified his standing within the party and government.
Former Home Minister Parameshwara also visited Shivakumar to extend greetings on his promotion. Additionally, Shivakumar sought blessings from Yediyurappa before the oath-taking ceremony, where he was warmly received and honored by the former CM.
Yediyurappa draped a shawl over Shivakumar’s shoulders and garlanded him during the visit, which also saw the presence of BJP MLA Bhyrati Basavaraj. The two leaders engaged in a brief conversation, marking a cordial exchange ahead of the political transitions in Karnataka.
