A Kisan Helpline Centre (KHC) has been inaugurated at the State Horticulture Research Centre in Nagicherra, West Tripura, to enhance agricultural advisory services, farmer outreach, and grievance redressal mechanisms in Tripura, Mizoram, and Meghalaya. The KHC aims to provide farmers in these Northeastern states with improved access to expert agricultural guidance and timely support services.
The Kisan Call Centre (KCC), initially introduced by the Union government in 2004 to offer farmers toll-free access to agricultural information and expert advisory services, has been transformed into the Kisan Helpline Centre (KHC) in 2026. This rebranding reflects an expanded scope that now encompasses agricultural advisory services, farmer outreach programs, and structured grievance redressal support.
Farmers can avail themselves of the KHC services by dialing the toll-free number 1800-180-1551, facilitating direct communication with agricultural experts. Operating through 22 centers nationwide, the Kisan Helpline network covers all states and Union Territories, with the Agartala center serving Tripura, Mizoram, and Meghalaya.
The KHC’s operations are overseen by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare of the Union government. The Agartala center operates from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, including Sundays and public holidays, to ensure continuous assistance to farmers. It follows a structured grievance redressal mechanism, with cases reviewed by the KHC Supervisor and escalated as needed for resolution by relevant authorities.
Supported by a robust call management and analytics system, the KHC Agartala aims to act as a vital link between farmers, agricultural experts, and the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, fostering effective communication and support.
